TUCSON - Eight members of the Arizona football team (7-4, 4-4 Pac-12) were recognized by the Pac-12 Conference for their scholastic achievements, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday. The Wildcats garnered four first-team selections, two second-team awards and two honorable mention honors.
Arizona and Colorado tied for the most first-team honors with four and UA was tied for third with six selections overall (Colorado 11, Utah 7, Arizona 6, Stanford 6).
Pac-12 First-Team All-Academic honors went to redshirt freshman Jared Baker (3.56, undeclared) at the running back position, junior Jake Fischer (3.32, marketing) at the linebacker position, sophomore Jared Tevis (3.25, finance) at the defensive back position and senior John Bonano (3.93, physiology) at the kicker position. Bonano earned his third accolade while Fischer was recognized for the second time.
Pac-12 Second-Team All-Academic honors went to sophomore Michael Cooper (3.92, business) at the tight end position and senior Trace Biskin (3.29, political science) at the offensive line position. Sophomores receiver Trevor Ermisch (3.00, pre-business) and defensive lineman Reggie Gilbert (3.18, undeclared) were named Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention.
The Wildcats will wrap the regular season and host the Sun Devils of ASU in the Territorial Cup on Fri., Nov. 23. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. MT and the game will air nationally on ESPN.
