    Turf Coming Soon

Hearing artificial turf will be installed on the field of Arizona Stadium soon. This could lead to the Spring Game being moved to Jerry Kindall Field at Sancet Stadium (the old baseball field).

The turf will be welcome. From what I read this will cut down of injuries and give better footing.

I've heard the same. Should like nice year round, although IMO, I think Arizona Stadium had one of the nicest grass fields in the country. Grass rarely looked beat up like that school up North usually has to deal with late in the season.

While I agree with this, it's also got to do with several other factors. This is an upfront cost with VERY low maintenance so the ROI is quick and cuts down on the maintenance costs in the long run. Second factor is the speed in which the game is played on turf. We're a fast paced team that wants every advantage possible. Fact is, turf is faster than grass which I'm sure Rich Rod is very happy about.

As per the Daily Star, the athletic department stopped accepting bids for companies to install the turf on Friday. They'll choose the company this week. Work is expected to begin February 1st and end by August 1st.

Are we going with FieldTurf or another company? Any idea, the article doesn't state that.

Does turf get noticeably hotter than grass in the summer?

I've heard that this was partially a reason it was never really considered in the past, bit technology has changed and it no longer gets super hot.
