Hasn't been confirmed yet, but if it happens it won't be a big deal IMO. He's a nice guy (and recruits well), but statistically the secondaries he's coached have not fared well recently. Coach Lockwood could coach the Safeties in addition to Cornerbacks, and then maybe a single Special teams coach could come in.

It's a meaningless position/title. Gibson was given it because he and Rich Rod were real good buddies. For all intents and purposes Magee/Smith/Casteel are your ASST head coaches.

With regards to Gibson it's absolutely hilarious to see WVU fans' reactions to this hire. They are not very happy to say the least. If I was a betting man I'd say Steve Dunlap is the guy hired to replace Gibson with a priority put on Special Teams and he'll help out on some defensive positions, while Lockwood gets the entire defensive backfield all to himself.

The Asst. head coach, yes it is a title but it comes with a few extra bucks$$$$$$$$$. Dunlop has been at WV for awhile. It may be a streach for him to move. WE still have to positions open.

Not a loss there was bound to be coaching movement eventually. The system is in place and newcomers will be brought in to fill in the pieces
