After leading the Arizona Wildcats to an 8-5 record in his first season, Rich Rodriguez received a raise Thursday of almost a quarter-million dollars, not counting bonuses and a new retention fund.

The Arizona Board of Regents approved the $225,000 base salary increase and one-year contract extension for the football coach during its meeting in Phoenix.

Well-deserved. I hope Rich Rod coaches here for years and years while building Arizona football into a better program than ever before.

It might sound a lot but is on the lower level of pay for coaches. I hope his staff get raises. We need to keep him and the staff together.

At this rate I hope he is here until he retires and makes us into a "brand" so players and coaches WANT to come to Arizona like they do Oregon, Bama, LSU etc.

I would love to see RR here for the rest of his coaching career. I have a feeling we'll be seeing more than one Rose Bowl under his watch.
