    Uafootball QB commits to Arizona

2013 Quarterback Tommy Woodson has committed to Arizona. He is the second QB to commit in the 2013 class, and 11th prospect overall. He stands at 6' 2" 190 and goes to Gateway High in Monroeville, Pennsylvania.

We are going to need these scrambling QBs unless we can secure some legitimate OL prospects. :/

Quite honestly I don't expect him to compete for the starting spot, at least any time soon. Still, it is good to add depth to such an important position. Arizona will likely still recruit Brandon Cox hard, but other than him Arizona could be done recruiting QBs for 2013.

I think this will be a Richard Morrison type deal where he'll get a shot at QB, but ultimately is being taken as an athlete that could play in the defensive backfield or as a WR.

Another interesting tidbit about this young man. Almost a year ago to the day (6/23/11), this young man and a friend were on their way to a football camp in Florida fm PA.

Tommy & his buddy had finished eating at a Five Guys hamburger joint in Durham, NC. Outside they encountered a "nut job" fm somewhere local in NC and the guy pulled a gun on them. They turned & started running and this idiot fired at both of them. Killed Tommy's teammate and Tommy Woodson was shot in the leg. A tragedy and despite all this, TW had a decent year in 2011. Should be fascinating to see how he does this year. He is well-loved and has tons of fans in his hometown.

You can only imagine the fierce pride that his hometown and school have in him and his progress. Sound familiar?!

Tommy also injured his throwing arm shoulder last season, which led to him missing most of last season. Tough year for the kid.

Coach RichRod is true to his word when he says he needs to carry a lot of QB's.

Tommy obviously has a lot to overcome. Everybody at Arizona will be cheering for him. It's nice to see kids committing early to the program before they even see the offense in action!

Tommy Woodson decommitted from Arizona. The kid wants to play QB and he wasn't going to get a fair shot at Arizona. Good luck to him.

Good luck to him wherever he goes. As long as it isn't to ASU.

Maybe we can use that scholarship on a stud D-Lineman.

Makes sense for him and Arizona to part ways, good luck Tommy. I'm sure Arizona will use the extra scholarship well.

Bummer. RichRod can always use athletes. Unfortunately, only one can play QB...
