Siren Sm Arizona's 2014 Recruiting Targets

DB Jalen Tabor Friendship Collegiate Academy (Washington D.C.)
Final 2 of Arizona and Alabama, currently I'd say it's 50/50

OT Andrew Mike Sabino High (Tucson, AZ)

OT Jordan Poland La Jolla Country Day (La Jolla, CA)
There's recent buzz that this highly national ranked Tackle could flip from USC to Arizona.

DT Marcus Griffin Bellevue (Bellevue, WA)
    de-commit from Washington St.

S Daejuan Funderburk Friendship Collegiate Academy (Washington D.C.)

ATH/QB Josh Eckley Marcos de Niza (Tempe, AZ)

LB/WR Ismael Murphy-Richardson Desert Edge (Goodyear, AZ)

Since the staff only has a few more spots left in the 2013 class they've started to seriously look at 2014 recruits, I decided to put all the offered recruits for this class here in this thread.

Keeping Wide Receiver Cameron Denson and Tackle Andrew Mike in Tucson will be a top priority for the coaching staff.

Only eight defensive targets. I know that this list doesn't include everybody that the staff is contacting, however we need some LB/DL to commit! It's nice to see eleven in-state targets. The talent in Arizona is definitely growing.

Would love to see this staff pull of a hell of a recruiting year in 2014. We could use some top quality instate and California talent.

Updated the list with some new additions. With the season over and the 2013 class almost wrapped up, 2014 recruiting will increase big time in the coming months.

IMT - that's what I'm hoping for! Can't wait to see how things work out, as it appears that Coach Rod does not wait for any grass to grown under his feet when it comes to recruiting.

Thought 'bout bumping this, but couldn't find it; simply a jog of memory for you. Would still love to know about Sani Fuimaono & Aialua Fanene, the 2 DTs recruited two years ago who went on Mormon missions. Since now after 1st of the year - and surely the coaches are talking to kids, can you discover the story on them?

As the coaching moves seem to be on the O-line (coach Anae) and it appears that D-Line will remain with Kirelawich, WHO follows up on players on missions? Don't know if these kids have speed OR looking forward to coming back here. With the excitement generated and last year's season, they may really be looking forward to it. PLUS, they would not count against this years class.

Glad to see the list of 2014 targets and anxious to see how we do with them. Really excited for the 2013 commits and the few that will start school early here in a couple of weeks! The thought of the add'l speed is intriguing to many of us!

    THANKS! GO CATS!! Bear Down!

P.S. About Allen Havili above - any relation to Stanley Havili, who went to USC? Know they both are from UT.

13 -16 possible defensive players. Good balance to get to 40-42 defensive players.

No news is good news as far as the two DT's on a mission. When they go out, they don't talk, watch, or listen to Sports. They dedicate this 2 years to the Lord, and everything else is on hold. They will come back more mature and ready to deal with life's challenges. When they get back they will decide what they will do about coming back to AZ.What has changed about the program, and if they think the changes are for the good, it may pay benefits. If they don't like the new approach to the program, they will likely go somewhere else to finish college.
Being as most people see the changes as positive, things should be good.

Nathan Starks is definitely a big time recruit. Having Anu here should help, but he's getting recruited by the best of the best. Texas and Oklahoma seem to be the leaders at this point.

ESPN just had an article (insider) on Marquis Ware and Cobb. Calling Ware a "must get".

How do we stand with Ware and subsequently his teammate Cobb?

    EDIT: damn you kane.

It is frustrating that our class is almost done and yet we are behind teams that can still take a lot more players than us.... Looks like we are in store for a big plummet down the rankings which sucks since we are only #32 now.

If we can land our last 3-5 top targets and keep the rest this should be one of the highest rated classes we've had in some time.

DL Edmond Boateng New Mexico Military Institute Roswell, NM)

OT Nick Gates Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV)

Updated...obviously this class is pretty filled up, but these are the guys that are giving Arizona a hard look.

Definitely would be nice to add some muscle to the offensive and/or defensive lines.

Still reading a lot about taking as many as 30.
With 4 -5 coming in early and counting towards the 13 class.
Also there are rumors about an in state either not qualifing, or decommiting to go to asu.
He is a nice player, but not as nice as the ones we are still in on.
We are also well covered in that position.
There will almost always be a player or two that dont qualify or report/enroll.
    So 30 sounds about right.
Andrews and Tabor would be preferred. Eckerly is being recruited as a preferred walk on from what I have gathered elsewhere.
QB is pretty full right now with who is in or coming.

After watching the secondary get diced up this weekend. Tabor has to be thinking to himself that this is a place he would start from day one. Playing time!!!

Was on an official this past weekend.

Ya Arizona improved its chances with Tabor after his visit, but gonna be hard to snag him away from the east-coast schools. Maryland has been considered the favorite for some time plus Bama and Florida are hard to turn down if they're going hard after you. Nice to have a shot though.

Am I right in thinking Mike is still waiting for Stanford to offer? If so, I think its time to let that ship sail and make them regret it when he whoops their ass his soph and junior years at AZ.

We jumped 8 spots on Rival from 24 to 16. Back in front in the PAC! 247 moved us up 9 spots to 15 and tops in PAC. As soon as Scout registers Poland we will be back in front there too.

Nice day to be a CAT!

House of Sparky already wrote an article about Arizona passing its rival in the rankings. The desert will own the Pac in a couple of years

6 early enrolees. Lets assume we get all those on '13 scholly's. That means 24 commits and room for 1 more. Now, this close to signing day our class gets pretty set. That said, we have to see who won't qualify, and who will flip last minute. Our momentum is on our side, but that is also a double edge sword. Someone like Polland committing, may make a guy like Mike think twice, or committed O-linemen. One commit isn't close to the same impact as in basketball, but just a variable. Anyway, signing day is going to be really exciting this year.
